3 Things About Me

1 ) Throughout middle and high school, I was part of the Boy Scouts of America. During that time, I went camping in the rain, wind, snow, heat, and everything else. When I aged out, I had spent over 200 nights sleeping on the ground.

2 ) Although I’m not great at it, I can speak Japanese.

上手じゃないだけど俺は日本語を話すことできる。

3 ) I have two cats. Their names are Mabel and Dipper, and they’re both butt-munches who I love to death.

Yahari Bento’s Questions

From Yahari Bento:

[Since] there is a certain disease in our world right now, I want to ask about the surgical mask!!

1 ) If you are using this, are you used to this mask yet, or is it difficult to breathe?

Fun fact, as the Corona Virus is going about, I am actually living and working in Japan. Needless to say, the Japanese government is sort of freaking out about containing the disease.

As for the surgical mask, I have been seeing them ever since I came to Japan, and never once have I used them. Although I will concede that the mask helps prevent germs from spreading when the wearer coughs or sneezes, I don’t, for a second, believe that a flimsy piece of cloth will save me from getting sick.

Do you want to stay healthy? Wash your hands thoroughly with soap after you go to the bathroom, before you eat, and generally whenever you see a sink.

2 ) The color of the mask you like?

Purple. I may not use one, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have preferences.

3 ) The anime/manga/LN/game you want to see her/him wearing the mask.

I am going to assume you mean an anime/manga/LN/game character. If that is the case, I can’t answer that because, again, the surgical mask is not a novel thing to me. Plus, the mask is so prevalent in anime that seeing one pop up doesn’t even register with me anymore.

4 ) If you will think about an anime character who you ever saw her/him sick in the bed, that person is…?

I have to be honest, I don’t quite understand the question.

5 ) The first person you want her/him to use this?

Again, since the mask doesn’t do anything to prevent you from getting sick, I would prefer it if people stopped thinking they were this cure-all that gives them the okay to not care for their personal hygiene in other ways.

I can’t stress this enough, WASH YOUR HANDS PEOPLE!

  1. Oh my, interesting deviation from the standard questions.
    Thanks for the nomination.

I forgot you lived in Japan, I remember reading that in another one of your posts.
Any tips for someone moving there within the next few weeks?

  2. For moving to Japan, locate the international community. Although it is great to experience Japanese culture, having a place that feels familiar is an immense help. Plus, you will find plenty of new friends and have access to incredible resources.

Where in Japan are you heading?

    1. I don’t know yet, the company hasn’t told me where the school I’ll be teaching at is. I’ll write a post at some point mentioning wherever I end up, not particularly choosey anyways.

And I’ll keep that in mind, thanks. I do know a couple from my church who live in Tokyo that I’ll be visiting, and should be able to make connections with other teachers during the 4 days of training we have.

  3. Congrats.

I’ve done this award before so let me answer your questions here. I knew some of the answers just by reading these, because as a kid I had to do all this logical reasoning/riddle stuff and although I never got why until I encountered psychometric testing in the past few years, I still enjoyed the challenge:

1 ) I am alive, but I grow; I don’t have lungs, but I need air; I don’t have a mouth, but water kills me. What am I?
Fire. (I’m pretty sure that’s the answer, anyway. I think it might actually be “I am /not/ alive”.)

2 ) What can you catch but never throw?
    A cold.

3 ) A man walked into town on Friday. He stayed two nights and left again on Friday. How?
His horse was called Friday. (I’ve seen this exact question before. No fooling me on that one.)

4 ) Which US state is round on both sides and high in the middle?
I don’t know much about US states, but Ohio…? The Os are round and the “hi” is…y’know…

    5) Name three consecutive days without using Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, a month, or a date.
Constitution Day, Greenery Day, Children’s Day. (I googled the answer after responding and now know the answer is “yesterday, today, tomorrow”, but those are May 3 – 5 and they aren’t their dates – they’re events on designated days – so it works by the same principle.)

  4. I’m so freaking late for this >..< Congrats on the nomination! 😀 Gotta give it to you, the image on the left is AMAZING! I would love to know how to do something like that 🙂

Also, thanks for the nomination. I haven't been writing much nowadays, so hopefully, you'll be ok if I answer your questions here in the comments? 🙂

    1. I'm guessing it should start at "I'm not alive"? Hmmm… I would say fire 😛
    2. I'm guessing some sort of disease
    3. I really don't know hahaha
    4. I'm not American, so I'm pretty sure I won't get this right even if I think for two years about this
    5. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow?

Don't forget to tell me the answers, cuz now I'm curious as hell eheh
